Rifaximin
What is this medicine?
Rifaximin is an antibiotic that only fights bacterial infection in the intestines.
It is used to treat travelers' diarrhea caused by E. coli. Most people get this infection by eating or drinking food or fluids that have been contaminated with the bacteria.
Rifaximin also lowers the risk of worsened brain function, or hepatic encephalopathy, in adults with liver failure.

- severe liver disease;
- diarrhea with a fever; or
- watery or bloody diarrhea.

How should I take this medicine?
