Intimate Offenders Won’t Get Viagra and Other ED Medications
As part of their attempt to decelerate (or even abruptly finish) adoption of the bill that would make switches to the medical care legislation signed into practice of law by President Obama Tues, US Senate Republicans have consecrated to introduce 100s of amendments.
One part of that scheme is to propose amendments on which Populists would be hard-pressed to draw a "no" vote. If the US Senate establishes any amendments to the lawmaking, it has to go back up to the House - an opening that Democrats are desiring to annul.
Republican Party Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma now distributed a listing of the 9 amendments he has registered, and right at the top is a vivid example of the scheme -- an amendment titled "No Erectile Dysfunction Medications to Intimate Offenders." Here is how it's depicted:
"This amendment would reenact recommendations from the Government Accountability Office to abruptly finish fraudulent payments for prescription medicines administered by dead doctors or, to dead sick people. This amendment as well disallows coverage of Viagra and additional erectile dysfunction drugs to convicted paederasts, rapers, and sex offenders, and disallows coverage of miscarriage medications."
By contradicting that amendment, Populists are, at any rate in principle, opening themselves up to accuses that they back up using government profits to provide intimate offenders with Viagra -- certainly an unpopular attitude if ever there was one.
Additional amendments on Coburn's listing are configured to cut populists' claims on what the bill will do - see amendment number 5, "If You Really Like the Medical Plan You Got, You are Able to Keep It." Coburn's 3rd amendment states merely, "Congress Shouldn't Lecture Americans on Financial Duty."
Senate Popular leaders are submitting their members not to bust ranks and defend Republican amendments (or preface amendments of your own) so to get the bill adopted as soon as imaginable. In a affirmation, AFL-CIO chairman Richard Trumka built that same disputation.
