Vardenafil Jelly

What is Vardenafil Jelly?

Vardenafil jelly is a form of vardenafil, a medication used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. Unlike traditional vardenafil tablets, the jelly formulation is absorbed directly into the bloodstream, potentially leading to a faster onset of action.

Important Information to Share with Your Doctor

Before taking vardenafil jelly, it's crucial to inform your healthcare provider about your medical history. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Penile conditions: Anatomical deformities of the penis, Peyronie's disease, or a history of erections lasting more than 4 hours (priapism).
  • Bleeding disorders: Any condition affecting your blood's ability to clot.
  • Cancer: Any type of cancer diagnosis and its current treatment.
  • Diabetes: Type 1 or Type 2 diabetes, and its management.
  • Gastrointestinal issues: Frequent heartburn or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
  • Cardiovascular health: Heart disease, angina, high or low blood pressure, history of heart attack, or other heart problems.
  • High cholesterol: High levels of cholesterol in the blood.
  • HIV infection: Current HIV status and treatment.
  • Kidney disease: Any impairment of kidney function.
  • Liver disease: Any impairment of liver function.
  • Sickle cell disease: This inherited blood disorder.
  • Stroke: History of stroke.
  • Peptic ulcers: Stomach or intestinal ulcers.
  • Eye problems: Any existing eye or vision conditions.
  • Allergies: Allergies to vardenafil, other medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives.

How to Use Vardenafil Jelly

The typical dosage is one entire sachet taken 30-40 minutes before anticipated sexual activity. It can be taken with or without food.

Overdosage: In case of suspected overdose, immediately contact a poison control center or emergency room.

Important Note: Vardenafil jelly is prescribed for individual use only. Do not share it with others.

Missed Dose

Vardenafil jelly is typically taken as needed, so a missed dose isn't applicable in the same way as regularly scheduled medications. However, avoid taking double doses.

Potential Drug Interactions

Do not take vardenafil jelly if you are currently using any nitroglycerin-type drugs for heart or chest pain (including amyl nitrite, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, nitroglycerin, and recreational drugs like "poppers").

Vardenafil jelly may also interact with the following medications. Discuss these with your doctor before taking vardenafil jelly:

  • Alpha blockers: Such as alfuzosin, doxazosin, prazosin, tamsulosin, or terazosin (used for high blood pressure or enlarged prostate).
  • Arsenic trioxide
  • Bosentan
  • Certain antibiotics: Including clarithromycin, erythromycin, sparfloxacin, and troleandomycin.
  • Anti-seizure medications: Such as carbamazepine, phenytoin, and phenobarbital.
  • HIV/AIDS medications: Various medications used to treat HIV or AIDS.
  • Cardiac rhythm medications: Examples include amiodarone, disopyramide, dofetilide, flecainide, ibutilide, quinidine, procainamide, propafenone, and sotalol.
  • Chloroquine
  • Cisapride
  • Diltiazem
  • Grapefruit juice
  • Antifungal medications: Including fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, and voriconazole.
  • Methadone
  • Nicardipine
  • Pentamidine
  • Pimozide
  • Rifamycins: Rifabutin, rifampin, or rifapentine.
  • Certain antidepressants: Amoxapine, maprotiline, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, nefazodone, pimozide, phenothiazines, and tricyclic antidepressants.
  • Verapamil

It's essential to inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and herbal remedies. Also mention caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drug use, as these can influence the effectiveness of vardenafil jelly.

Monitoring Your Health While Using Vardenafil Jelly

Report any vision changes immediately to your doctor. Stop using vardenafil jelly immediately if you experience vision loss in one or both eyes and seek immediate medical attention.

Contact your doctor immediately if an erection lasts longer than 4 hours (priapism) or becomes painful. This requires prompt treatment to avoid permanent damage.

If you experience nausea, dizziness, chest pain, or arm pain during sexual activity after taking vardenafil jelly, stop and contact your doctor as soon as possible.

Do not adjust your dosage without consulting your doctor.

Important: Vardenafil jelly does not protect against HIV infection or other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
