What is Opsumit (Macitentan)?

Opsumit, containing the active ingredient macitentan, is a medication used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). PAH is a serious condition where blood pressure in the arteries leading to the lungs becomes abnormally high, making it harder for the heart to pump blood effectively. Opsumit works by relaxing and widening these blood vessels, thus lowering blood pressure in the lungs and improving the heart's ability to circulate blood. Men should be aware that macitentan may decrease sperm count and potentially affect fertility.

How to Take Opsumit
