Vardenafil Soft (Chewable) Tablets

What is Vardenafil Soft?

Vardenafil Soft is a chewable tablet used to treat erectile dysfunction (ED) in adult men. Unlike some other ED medications, vardenafil is associated with a lower risk of visual disturbances. It works by increasing blood flow to the penis, helping to achieve and maintain an erection.

Important Information Before Taking Vardenafil Soft

Before starting vardenafil, it's crucial to inform your doctor about your medical history. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Penile deformities (such as Peyronie's disease) or any history of erections lasting more than 4 hours (priapism).
  • Bleeding disorders
  • Any type of cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Frequent heartburn or GERD (Gastroesophageal reflux disease)
  • Heart disease, angina, high or low blood pressure, history of heart attack, or other heart problems
  • High cholesterol
  • HIV infection
  • Kidney disease
  • Liver disease
  • Sickle cell disease
  • Stroke
  • Stomach or intestinal ulcers
  • Eye or vision problems
  • Allergies to vardenafil, other medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives

This information helps your doctor assess if vardenafil is safe and appropriate for you.

How to Use Vardenafil Soft

Vardenafil tablets are taken orally, with or without food. The usual dose is taken approximately 40 minutes before anticipated sexual activity. Chew the tablet thoroughly until it dissolves completely. Never exceed the recommended dose. Taking more than prescribed won't enhance the effects and could be dangerous. In case of an overdose, seek immediate medical attention or contact a poison control center.

Important Note: This medication is prescribed for individual use only and should not be shared with others.

Missed Dose

Vardenafil is taken as needed, so a missed dose isn't applicable. However, avoid taking double or extra doses.

Drug Interactions

Do not take vardenafil if you are currently using any of the following medications:

  • Nitroglycerin-type drugs (including amyl nitrite, isosorbide dinitrate, isosorbide mononitrate, nitroglycerin) used to treat heart conditions or chest pain. This also includes recreational drugs known as "poppers" containing amyl nitrate or butyl nitrate.

Vardenafil may also interact with the following medications. Inform your doctor if you are taking any of these:

  • Alpha-blockers (alfuzosin, doxazosin, prazosin, tamsulosin, terazosin) used for high blood pressure or enlarged prostate.
  • Arsenic trioxide
  • Bosentan
  • Certain antibiotics (clarithromycin, erythromycin, sparfloxacin, troleandomycin)
  • Certain anti-seizure medications (carbamazepine, phenytoin, phenobarbital)
  • Certain HIV/AIDS medications
  • Certain antiarrhythmics (amiodarone, disopyramide, dofetilide, flecainide, ibutilide, quinidine, procainamide, propafenone, sotalol)
  • Chloroquine
  • Cisapride
  • Diltiazem
  • Grapefruit juice
  • Antifungal medications (fluconazole, itraconazole, ketoconazole, voriconazole)
  • Methadone
  • Nicardipine
  • Pentamidine
  • Pimozide
  • Rifabutin, rifampin, or rifapentine
  • Some antidepressants (amoxapine, maprotiline, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, nefazodone, pimozide, phenothiazines, tricyclic antidepressants)
  • Verapamil

It's vital to disclose all medications you're taking, including over-the-counter drugs, supplements, and herbal remedies, to your doctor. This also includes regular consumption of caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs, as these can impact the effectiveness of vardenafil.

Monitoring Your Health While Using Vardenafil

Report any vision changes immediately to your doctor. Stop taking vardenafil and seek immediate medical help if you experience sudden vision loss in one or both eyes. If an erection lasts longer than 4 hours (priapism) or becomes painful, seek immediate medical care to avoid permanent damage. If you experience nausea, dizziness, chest pain, or arm pain during sexual activity after taking vardenafil, stop the activity and consult your doctor as soon as possible. Do not adjust your dosage without first consulting your doctor.

Remember, vardenafil doesn't protect against HIV or other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
